Frequently Asked Questions

What if I'm afraid of horses?

We'll work together to make you comfortable. You don't need to have any previous experience with horses to participate in equine assisted programs. Being a little nervousness can actually help!

Do I need any special equipment?

No! We recommend you wear layers so you can adjust should you get warm or cold during our session. Also sensible shoes for the barn and arena.

What if there is bad weather?

We work indoors in the arena so we'll be able to continue in the rain.
In the case of thunder or snow storms we may need to postpone or reschedule.

How often do I need to come?

Weekly or bi-weekly is preferred but you can come as little as
once a month if that's all you can manage. Equine assisted programs are a short-term commitment but can give long-lasting rewards.

How do I know if this is right for me?

EFT is ideal for individuals, couples or families. It's especially helpful for helping those with mental health diagnoses. In our consultation we'll discuss your challenges and goals and determine if this therapy is a good fit for you.

Equine Assisted Therapy by Moondance Therapy

What is a session like?

After your initial consultation, an individualized plan will be set up to help you achieve your goal. All sessions happen on the ground and are done with a therapist or counsellor. You'll do exercises with the horse that will help you recognize your own behaviors and patterns and create solutions.

At Moondance we use the FEEL method (Facilitated Equine Experiential Learning), a leading-edge method for developing human potential. In these interactions with horses people gain self-knowledge and acquire skills leading to positive life changes.

This video will give you an overview of services that are provided, what you can expect when you participate in a session, and testimonials from clients and alumni. It was produced by FEEL alumni at Horse Spirit Connections. Shelley, Lin and Emma all trained at this facility. We hope you find it helpful.
